Philadelphia Parks & Recreation offers both neighborhood day camps and specialized theme camps at our playgrounds, recreation centers, and facilities across the city.

Some of our summer camps are already full, but others are still accepting registrations. Read on for a selection of summer camps that still have openings, and register today to guarantee your child’s spot!

Neighborhood Day Camps

Parks & Rec summer day camps take place at neighborhood recreation centers and playgrounds. Activities typically include arts and crafts, sports and athletics, performing arts, nature activities, library time and reading literacy, dance and exercise, swimming and spray park visits, weekly field trips, and more. All camps include lunch at no extra cost.

Theme Camps

Parks & Rec offers a large lineup of theme camps, ranging from nature adventure and sports (including basketball, baseballgymnasticssoccer, and swim) to art and computers.

Here are some highlights:

Be Outside – Teen Adventure Summer Day Camp

  • Ages: 12 to 14
  • Runs: June 24-August 1, 2019. Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Cost: $350/camp season (7 weeks). Lunch and transportation not included.

Teens will enjoy these action-packed day trips. The fun includes white water rafting, disc golf, and more. Campers should bring their own lunch. A light snack is provided.

Part 1: Children will engage in outdoor activities–such as kayaking, rock-climbing, hiking, and zip lining–to build skills, determination and self-confidence.
Part 2: Focuses on career exploration, S.T.E.M., social responsibility, and physical activity– all with an outdoor theme.

The camp is based out of Chalfont Playground in Northeast Philadelphia.

Introduction to Performing Arts Camp

  • Ages:  6 to 10
  • Runs: July 1 to August 9, 2019. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. with an extended care option.
  • Cost: $325.00/camp season (6 weeks), optional after care is an additional $150/camp season.

Gotta sing? Gotta dance? This is the theme camp for youth with an interest in the performing arts. Campers take classes in creative movement, drama, and music. All campers will perform in a showcase at the Dell Music Center. Fee includes lunch and snack.

Summer Rowing Camp

  • Ages: 13 to 17
  • Runs: June 24 to August 16, 2019. Monday-Friday, 8:45 a.m.-3:15 p.m.
  • Cost: $25/two-week session
    Breakfast and a snack provided. Campers must bring their own lunch.

Have you ever dreamed of rowing on the river? Are you interested in learning how to row? This is a great opportunity for local teenagers to do just that. Four 2-week sessions are offered. Campers will be taught the basics of the sport. This camp is held at Lloyd Hall on historic Boathouse Row.

Summer Art Camp

  • Ages: 7 to 17
  • Runs: July 1 to August 9, 2019. Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
  • Cost: $150/three-week session, $50/registration or $300/six-week session, $50/registration
    Breakfast, lunch, and all supplies are included.

Looking for a creative place for young artists? Look no further! Campers learn drawing, painting, ceramics, mixed media, and more. They also enjoy art-related trips. The 6-week theme camp is broken up into two 3-week sessions. At the end of each session, campers display their work at an art show for family and friends. Campers are split into three age groups: juniors (ages 7 to 9), intermediates (ages 10 to 12), and seniors (ages 13 to 17). The three age groups will participate in art projects specific to their capabilities and experience.

Young Performers Theater Camp

  • Ages:  9 to 18
  • Runs: July 1 to August 9, 2019. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • Cost: $200/camp season (6 weeks), $150/registration fee, optional bus service is an additional $150/season

A theme camp for youth with an interest in theater and related arts. This is a great opportunity to rehearse and perform in professional spaces. “Majors” include dance and musical theater.  At the end of the season, dance majors will perform in a choreographed performance, and musical theater majors will perform in one of three productions: “The Lion King Jr.” (ages 9 to 12), “Bring It On!” (ages 13 to 14), or “Legally Blonde” (ages 15 to 18). New campers will be required to audition prior to enrolling.
