Mosquitoes
The Department of Public Health investigates and controls mosquitoes that can transmit diseases like West Nile virus and Zika virus. We also investigate and treat stagnant pools and standing water, where mosquitoes often breed, and help residents learn how to protect themselves and their homes from mosquitoes.
Other insects
We treat low-hanging wasp or hornet nests in curbside trees, as well as roaches in public sewers. We also provide information about other insect problems and identify insects for Philadelphia residents on request.
