Report air and noise pollution

Air Management Services responds to the public’s concerns about air and noise pollution from commercial and industrial sources in Philadelphia. You can help to protect and improve the city’s air quality by reporting:

  • Dust.
  • Smoke.
  • Odor.
  • Idling.
  • Noise.
  • Vibration.

Construction noise affecting residences should not be louder than five decibels above the background sound level from 8 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays, and 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. on weekends, unless there is emergency or public works construction.

Air Management Services also enforces state and federal regulations regarding air and noise pollution.


You can report air and/or noise pollution from commercial and industrial sources by calling the Air Management Services complaint line at (215) 685-7580.

You can also email Air Management Services at dphams_service_requests@phila.gov.

Complaints are investigated the same day they are received.

To report complaints of noise from individuals or residential sources, call 911 or contact your local police district.
