Overview
The Mayor’s Day of Service Recognition is an annual event that honors people who have made a positive impact in their community through local service, national service, and volunteerism.
All nominees must be Philadelphia residents. Multiple nominations for the same person will not influence their chance of being selected.
Award categories
The Mayor’s Office accepts nominations for the following award categories.
Mayor’s Philly Hero Award
This award is for residents who have made a unique contribution to the city through service.
Mayor’s Youth Hero Award
This award is for residents 18 years of age and under who have made a unique contribution to the city through service.
Mayor’s Distinguished National Service Award
This award is for residents who are currently serving in AmeriCorps or AmeriCorps Seniors. Nominees for this award have gone above and beyond the requirements of their service position.
Mayor’s Distinguished National Service Alumni Award
This award is for residents who are alumni of AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps Seniors, or Peace Corps. Nominees for this award have continued to exemplify service throughout their lives.
