Report possible arson or fire code violation

You can report possible arson or fire code violations to be investigated by the City.

Arson

To report possible arson, use the arson tips form. You can submit photos and videos on the form. All reports are completely anonymous.

Fire code violations

1
To report a potential fire code violation, submit a report to Philly 311.

You can call 311 or use 311’s online form to report a possible violation in a residence or business.

2
The Department of Licenses & Inspections (L&I) will inspect the home or business.

Inspections usually happen within 20 business days after the report is made.

3
If the inspector finds a code violation, a notice of violation is sent to the property owner.

The owner typically has 35 days to fix the problem before L&I reinspects the property.

4
If the owner does not comply, L&I will take additional steps, potentially including legal action.
