Schedule a sanitation/safety inspection for a child care facility

The Department of Public Health conducts annual sanitation/safety inspections of child care facilities. Inspections address:

  • Food handling practices.
  • Water supply.
  • Waste disposal.
  • Presence of insects, rodents, or other vermin.
  • Ventilation.
  • Lighting.
  • Sanitation and condition of client care areas and equipment.
  • Condition of toilet facilities.
  • Presence/handling/disposal of any hazardous materials.

Who

Operators of child care facilities must schedule annual inspections.

To schedule a sanitation/safety inspection of a child care facility, call the Office of Food Protection at (215) 685-7495.

Note: After your child care facility is inspected, the Department of Public Health will issue a License Eligibility Report (LER). To begin the process, you must apply for either a plan review for a stationary food business or a change of ownership of a stationary food business.
