Landlords must test and certify rental properties as lead-safe or lead-free in order to:
- Execute a new or renewed lease.
- Get or renew a rental license.
How
To test and certify that a rental property is lead safe or lead free, landlords should hire an approved/certified lead professional:
- EPA-approved lead dust wipe sampling technicians
- PA Department of Health-certified lead abatement contracting firms
After receiving a lead certification, landlords should submit the results to the City’s Lead Certification Submission System. This is a database that allows you to upload, manage, and view lead certifications.
