Title companies often require that property owners resolve outstanding business tax liens or judgments before a property can be sold or refinanced. Financial institutions also require business tax lien or judgement resolutions before securing a loan. Taxpayers may also wish to settle their outstanding business tax liens or judgments with the City in lump sum using guaranteed funds.

These payoff requests are handled by the Settlement Group within the Tax Litigation and Collections Unit.
Be prepared to provide:
- Address of the property being sold/refinanced or secured
- Defendant taxpayer’s name, current address, contact information, and Social Security Number or Employer Identification Number
- A copy of the title report and the business tax lien/judgment numbers
Separate requests should be sent for each property being sold or refinanced.
