Philadelphia Fetal and Infant Mortality Review

In 2014, the infant mortality rate in Philadelphia was 7.8 deaths per 1,000 live births. Sleep-related infant death was the second leading contributor to postnatal mortality.

The Philadelphia Fetal and Infant Mortality Review (FIMR) is a community process that works to address fetal and infant mortality in Philadelphia. The Philadelphia FIMR is led by an interdisciplinary team made up of leaders in government, health and human service organizations, community members, and other key institutions. Working together, FIMR members assess data, identify solutions, and implement policy to reduce infant mortality.

The Philadelphia FIMR is committed to reducing health disparities in fetal and infant deaths, promoting safe sleep environments for infants, and decreasing fetal and infant deaths in Philadelphia.
