PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Department of Public Health today announced 362 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Philadelphia. That brings the number of confirmed cases to 43,286. In addition, the Department of Public Health also announced 13 new probable cases from rapid antigen tests.

The Department of Public Health confirmed three additional fatalities in Philadelphia. This brings the number of residents who have succumbed to the virus in Philadelphia to 1,867. Of the 1,867 total deaths, 912 (49%) were long-term care facility residents.

Addition of Negative COVID Results: Due to ongoing efforts to ensure the complete accounting of COVID-19 test results, the Department of Public Health has added approximately 72,000 negative test results to their database from earlier in the pandemic. Labs have not always prioritized submitting negative results to the Department of Public Health, so it was expected that there were outstanding negative test results. The vast majority of these negative test results were collected prior before July 2020.

Travel Recommendations Map: Today, the Philadelphia Department of Public Health is removing the color-coded Travel Recommendations map from the City’s COVID-19 website. Given the effort in maintaining this map, and the state Department of Health maintaining a list of states with travel advisories that overlapped with Philadelphia’s, the Department of Public Health will be directing people to that list. Philadelphians should avoid travel to the states on that list and quarantine for 14 days if traveling from one of those states, consistent with previous guidance.

Food Site Update: Food sites continue to distribute free, healthy food to families throughout the city. Families should note that the following locations will be closed tomorrow, Thursday, October 29, due to impending weather:

  • The People’s Emergency Center (3750 Lancaster Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19104)
  • Upper Room Baptist Church (7236 Ogontz Ave., Philadelphia PA 19138)
  • Feast of Justice (3101 Tyson Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19149)

An up-to-date list of nearby sites and schedules is available on the City’s website. The public is encouraged to confirm locations and schedules by calling 311 or visiting phila.gov/food before going to a site. Philly 311 can also provide information on local food pantries.

Residents of all ages can continue to pick up a box of food (one box per household) at food sites on Thursdays between 10 a.m. and noon every week. Residents do not have to present ID or proof of income.

No COVID-19 Briefing on Election Day: There is no COVID-19 press briefing scheduled on Tuesday, November 3 due to Election Day. The City will continue to publish daily press releases providing the latest case counts and other critical information.

Testing Site Map: A testing site finder at phila.gov/testing helps people find a free COVID-19 test in Philadelphia. Anyone can search for a site by address, click on a map location for specific site information, and filter by day of week and by drive-thru or walk-up.
