Manhole (utility) covers are heavy metal plates that cover access points to utilities on the ground. Missing manhole covers are a safety risk. It is important to replace missing manhole covers quickly.
Common manhole or utility cover issues include:
- The cover is coming off.
- The asphalt around the cover has sunken.
- The manhole has sunken.
- The cover is damaged.
- The cover is missing.
There are two ways to report issues with manhole covers.
Identify and contact the owner
If you can identify the manhole owner, you should call them directly about the problem. Use the pictures below to identify common owners.
Contact the City
If you can’t identify the owner or if the cover is missing, use our online form to submit a report. The City will then notify the appropriate utility.
Be as specific as possible when describing the manhole’s location.
