New Requirements for Control of Dust for Construction and Demolition Activities

On August 11, 2016 a new regulation with requirements for the control of dust during construction and demolition activities went into effect. This regulation has new notification, permit requirements, and work practice requirements for these activities. Below are several documents related to this regulation.

Dust Control Permit Application Form and Instructions

  • A dust control permit must be obtained before completely demolishing a building or structure that is more than three (3) stories, greater than forty (40) feet tall, or encompasses more than ten thousand (10,000) square feet. A dust control permit is also required before completely or partly demolishing a building or structure by implosion.

Dust Control Notification Form

NOTE: In addition to obtaining a Dust Control Permit for Demolition, you may also be required to submit an Asbestos Abatement and Demolition / Renovation Form to AMS’s Asbestos Control Unit, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, even if no asbestos is present at the site of proposed demolition.
