U.S. VETERAN’S PREFERENCE NOTE:
Ten points for veteran’s preference will be added to the scores of eligible veterans who apply for open competitive tests and pass the examination (for concurrent examinations, this applies only to applicants who are not currently employed by the City in a civil service position). You must be honorably discharged from the U.S. armed forces. Attach a DD214, member 4, to your application if you wish your eligibility to be reviewed. Spouses of disabled or deceased veterans may also be considered.
This is advanced life support and field paramedical work responding to emergency calls from the public to perform medical assistance with emphasis on the stabilization of patients to permit safe transport to a full-service medical facility.

Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade;
AND
Completion of training in Advanced Life Support Practices and techniques necessary to qualify for Pennsylvania State Certification.
NOTE: You must submit documentation of Pennsylvania State Certification as a Paramedic with your application. Applications received without documentation cannot be processed until documentation is received. All applicants must submit a resume outlining their paid paramedic experience, including dates (month and year) of employment and total hours worked per week. Applicants will be evaluated and scored based upon their training and experience credentials. Applicants will not be asked to appear to take a scheduled examination.
NOTE:
Successful candidates will be required to have been bona fide residents of the City of Philadelphia at the time of and for one year prior to appointment.
