The Injury Prevention Program staff work with individuals and families to help prevent injuries in vehicles and in homes, with special attention given to falls, fires, and heat/cold injuries.

Available Services

Free Home Safety Inspections
Field investigators inspect homes for common safety issues such as the presence of a smoke detector, moderate hot water temperature and carbon monoxide leaks.  Safety measures, e.g. rubber bath mats and night lights, are provided to aging adults free of charge.

Child Seat Loan Program
This program loans child car seats to low-income families.  The families receive education on the proper installation and use of the child safety seat.  To qualify, applicants must:

  1. Be a resident of Philadelphia.
  2. Have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license or proof of residence.
  3. Meet income eligibility, e.g. have an Access card, WIC, or other public assistance documentation.
  4. Give a $10 refundable deposit for each seat.
