Vector Control / Animal Management

EHS responds to individual complaints about rats in residences and outdoors.   An Environmental Inspector will inspect the site, provide treatment for the problem, and make recommendations to keep residences rodent free.

Insect Control
EHS responds to questions and complaints from residents concerning insect problems, and provides insect identification. EHS investigates and treats: roaches coming from exterior sewers in neighborhoods, wasp/hornet nests in low hanging curbside trees, and exterior insect vectors (i.e., mosquitoes) in public areas.

Animal Management
Animal Management responds to individual complaints about wild animals, pot bellied pigs, pet shops, stables, pigeons, excessive dogs and cats, and carriage horse issues.  The unit also performs animal bite investigations.  

Questions regarding dog licensing are handled by the Animal Licensing Program. Questions regarding animal abuse are handled by the Philadelphia Area Animal Care and Control Association at (267) 385-3800.
