Ambulatory Health Services (AHS) manages and supervises operations of Philadelphia's eight Health Care Centers. It monitors pharmacy and laboratory services in the Health Centers, and is responsible for contractual services with area hospitals for physician services and for speciality care for the uninsured.
Ambulatory Health Services also provides leadership to the following PDPH divisions: Central Pharmacy, Public Health Laboratory, Office of Medical Affairs and the Division of Information Management.

What about Insurance?
The PDPH's Health Care Centers accept Medicare, Medical Assistance, most health insurance and HMO plans. If you do not have insurance, you will be billed on a sliding scale, based on your family size and income. Even if you do not have any income or health insurance, you will still receive high-quality health care.

Services
Any resident of Philadelphia can access medical or dental care by calling one of Philadelphia's Health Care Centers. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are accepted if time is available or there is an emergency situation.

Comprehensive Medical Care
Philadelphia's Health Care Centers offer comprehensive medical care to the entire family. Services include medical check-ups, family planning, pregnancy options counseling, prenatal care, well-baby care, blood tests, x-rays, medication, baby shots, flu shots for older adults and TB immunizations.

Dental Care
All of Philadelphia's Health Care Centers (except #1 and Strawberry Mansion) provide basic dental services, referrals to speciality services and emergency dental care. Except for emergency dental care, all services are provided by appointment only.

Resource Coordination
Health Service Social Workers are available at each site to help patients access education and counseling programs, help process entitlement information, and make referrals to follow-up treatment.
