Philadelphia City Branding Image
Tobacco Policy and Control Program

We are working to make it easier for people to quit smoking, to limit access to tobacco products (especially among youth), and to create a healthy, anti-smoking climate in Philadelphia.

What We Are Doing

Keeping Tobacco Away from Youth »
Limiting the marketing and sale of tobacco to young people by strengthening laws and regulations and providing education.

Saving Lives by Reducing Tobacco Use »
Reducing smoking-related deaths by promoting aided quit attempts, increasing the price of cigarettes, and posting health warnings where tobacco products are sold.

Protecting Youth and Adults from Secondhand Smoke »
Philadelphia passed the landmark Clean Indoor Air Worker Protection Law in 2006, protecting people from secondhand smoke in bars, restaurants, and workplaces.

Helping Smokers Quit »
Providing help to smokers who want to quit and increasing the number of people who quit for good.

Enforcing Tobacco Laws »
Helping restaurants and retailers follow tobacco laws and encouraging Philadelphians to report illegal indoor smoking and youth sales.
