Service overview
People who are incarcerated in the Philadelphia Department of Prisons system can receive clothing through the commissary or through an in-person clothing exchange.
You can order clothing online through commissary.
In-person clothing exchanges are for court clothing only. Court clothing is a one-to-one exchange. You bring a clean outfit and take home the other one.
How
Clothing exchanges (In-person)
A clothing exchange can be made any day of the week after it has been approved by the incarcerated person’s unit manager. You can learn more about how to visit an incarcerated person.
Two facilities have time restrictions for clothing exchanges:
- Detention Center: Clothing exchanges may be made before 1:30 p.m.
- Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center: Clothing exchanges must be made before 5 p.m.
You can bring prescription eyeglasses, dentures, or a prosthesis to an incarcerated person that a health care provider has approved. Shoes and sneakers are not accepted.
Commissary (Online)
All other clothing can be purchased online.
