Fatality Review Program

The purpose of the Fatality Review Program is to conduct a comprehensive review of deaths of vulnerable populations in order to better understand the factors that contributed to the death and to identify factors that are potentially preventable. Our ultimate goal is to improve the health and safety of all Philadelphians and to reduce the number of preventable deaths.

The Fatality Review Program currently runs four
fatality review teams that look at different populations in Philadelphia. Another team process that reviews Philadelphia deaths, the Fetal & Infant Mortality Review, is run by the Division of Maternal, Child & Family Health.

The Fatality Review Program accepts interns who are public health majors in their junior or senior years, as well as graduate students of public health or other health-related fields.
