Forensic Anthropology

When skeletal remains are found, the forensic anthropologist is called upon to assist in identification of the deceased. These consultants use a combination of physical anthropology and human osteology, which is the study of the human skeleton, to offer an expert opinion on the race, gender, age, height, and other characteristics of the deceased. The anthropologist also looks for evidence of injury to the skeleton, and tries to determine how long before death the injury occurred.

The forensic anthropology unit does not accept interns.
