Bereavement Support Services
The bereavement support services staff consists of three master’s level social workers.

Bereavement Care Coordinator and Bereavement Care Provider reach out to Philadelphia families who have experienced the sudden unexpected loss of an infant. They offer free bereavement sessions to these families in their own homes.

Crisis Care Coordinator reaches out to families who have lost a loved one to homicide or suicide. Services are also offered to individuals who come to the Medical Examiner’s Office during regular business hours.

All bereavement support staff members are also able to refer grieving families to other agencies for most medical or social service needs – including, but not limited to, possible burial or cremation assistance.

Bereavement support services accept masters-level social work students as interns during their second year field placement.
