The Philadelphia Fire Explorers Cadet Post is a program for young adults ages 14-21 who are interested in the Fire Service profession.

WHAT IS THE EXPLORER PROGRAM?
Our goal To teach young adults the knowledge and values needed to succeed in a fire service career. We do this by providing training in the following:

  • Leadership Development

  • Self Discipline

  • Self Respect

  • Confidence in Self and Team members

Qualifications:
14-21 Years of Age
Copy of birth certificate
Must be enrolled in High School
Applicants must be able to speak, understand, read and write the English Language.
Fire Explorers under the eighteen years of age are required to have a parent or guardian sign a consent form and attend a scheduled orientation.
Be in good physical health and able to participate in physical activities.
Must maintain a passing behavior and academic grade.

The Explorers are required to wear uniforms and are expected to maintain a neat and polished appearance at all times. They receive classroom instruction and hands--on training in Fire Service procedures from local and state agencies.

The Fire Explorers program is designed to introduce young adult men and women ages 14-21 into the profession of fire service and emergency medical management. Providing them training and experience through mentoring, classroom instruction, and hands-on training.

When Fire Explorers reach their sixteenth (16th) birthday and desire to continue in the field of fire service, they are encouraged to apply to the Philadelphia Fire Department and participate in the application and testing process.

Cadets must have reached their eighteenth (18th) birthday at the time employment is offered to them.

The Explorers are required to wear uniforms and are expected to maintain a neat and polished appearance at all times. They receive classroom instruction and hands--on training inn Fire Service procedures from local and state agencies.
