The goal of mediation is to help people identify the nature of their conflict and to provide them with the skills to resolve the conflict themselves.
The mediation process brings parties together to open the lines of communication in an attempt to identify concerns, clear up misunderstandings, and assist the parties in resolving their dispute. Since the process is voluntary, both parties must agree to participate.
CRD mediators do not take sides, provide legal advice or force a solution on the parties. Instead, the mediators facilitate communication between the parties to help them create their own solution for the dispute. Through this process, the mediator gives the parties the option to develop a confidential agreement that describes their future relationship.
