2024 Scheduled Meetings

The Department of Planning and Development’s agencies conduct business at regularly scheduled public meetings. Until further notice, all meetings will be held remotely, on the Zoom platform. The scheduled meetings for 2024 are as follows:

Philadelphia Historical Commission

The Philadelphia Historical Commission and its committees hold public meetings online. At these meetings, they review building permit applications for work to historically designated properties, as well as matters related to historic designation. Interested parties can comment in-person on matters before the Historical Commission. Or, comments may be submitted in writing in advance of the public meeting.

The Historical Commission’s monthly meeting occurs on the second Friday of the month, at 9 a.m.:

Philadelphia Art Commission

The Philadelphia Art Commission and its committees hold monthly meetings online. At these meetings, they review applications for different project types like construction projects located on City property or funded with City money, structures to be placed on or over the public right-of-way, including awnings, newsstands, and bridges, signs on buildings in certain locations or in the right-of-way, restaurant streeteries, public art to be acquired by the City or placed on public property, and public art created to fulfill the floor area and height density bonus, as outlined in Chapter 14-702 of the zoning code.

The Philadelphia Art Commission meets on the Second Wednesday of the month, at 9:30 a.m.:

Philadelphia City Planning Commission and Civic Design Review

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission and Civic Design Review committee hold public meetings online. At these meetings, they review major subdivisions, zoning bills, neighborhood and citywide plans, large projects that meet certain size thresholds, large projects applying for zoning variances, and applications for removing or adding streets and other rights-of-way.

The Philadelphia City Planning Commission meets on the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m., except when it conflicts with City Holidays:

Zoning Board of Adjustment

The Zoning Board of Adjustment hears appeals for zoning permit applications that have been refused or referred by the Department of Licenses and Inspections and any decision made by L&I in accordance with the Philadelphia Zoning Code, including issuance of by-right permits and zoning-related violation notices. Meetings are held on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., and on certain Tuesdays (indicated with an asterisk).
