PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Department of Public Health today announced 132 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Philadelphia. That brings the number of confirmed cases to 30,077.

The Department of Public Health confirmed two additional fatalities in Philadelphia. This brings the number of residents who have succumbed to the virus in Philadelphia to 1,680. Of the 1,680 total deaths, 855 (51%) were long-term care facility residents. Current and cumulative totals of both symptomatic and asymptomatic positive cases in Philadelphia prisons are now posted on the testing and data page of the City’s COVID-19 website.

Census Caravan: On Saturday, August 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Philly Counts and Congressman Dwight Evans (D-PA-3rd) are co-hosting a driving and biking census caravan to remind residents to participate in the 2020 Census. The caravan will drive through Strawberry Mansion, Mantua and Belmont, neighborhoods which are historically undercounted in the census and are currently reporting response rates lower than the city’s average. Representatives from the U.S. Census Bureau will accompany the caravan, along with local and state elected officials, including Councilmember Gauthier, Senator Street, and Representative Bullock.
