Philadelphia Trail Plan

Completing, expanding, and connecting watershed parks and trails across the city.

About

Philadelphia’s trail network is an important part of our transportation system. Trails are used by people walking, rolling, or using low-speed assisted devices. Our trails provide people of all ages and abilities with options for safe travel, recreation, and exercise.

The Philadelphia Trail Plan was completed in 2013 as a recommendation of the City's comprehensive plan. City planners have constructed over 30 miles of trails since the plan was published. Over 20 miles of new trails are under construction or in planning right now.

The City is developing a new trail master plan to guide the future of urban trail planning in Philadelphia. The planning process includes four focus areas:

  • Trail network and classification.
  • Trail maintenance.
  • Equity, engagement, and education.
  • Prioritization.
