PHILADELPHIA – The Mayor’s Office of Education released a report called “PHLpreK by the Numbers” highlighting the status PHLpreK, the City’s new quality pre-K program funded by the Philadelphia Beverage Tax. In addition to data on student enrollment and family demographics, the report provides background on the pre-K providers selected to deliver quality pre-K education this year.

Mayor Kenney plans to visit one of the providers, Casa del Carmen, located at 4400 N. Reese Street, on Monday, March 27th at 3:30 to meet students and staff.

“I’m so proud of the success PHLpreK has had so far,” said Mayor Kenney.  “Last year at this time, expanded quality pre-K for Philadelphia’s children was an ambitious goal shared by many stakeholders. Today,1870 children are attending quality pre-K at 88 programs throughout the city. This is a shared effort between my Administration, City Council, PHMC, UAC, the School District, a dedicated Pre-K Advisory Board, the philanthropic community, and dozens of pre-K providers. We have a great deal more to accomplish, but we’re off to a good start.”
