On Thursday, May 19, Mayor Jim Kenney hosted an event that welcomed some of Philadelphia’s most active and seemingly ageless centenarians, individuals who are 100 years old or older. The oldest Philadelphian to grace the dance-floor was Dr. Eli Zebooker, a former World War II Veteran and Center City dentist. His vibrant and energized presence was one that could not be ignored and at the age of 103, Dr. Zebooker even walked to the event location.  The oldest guest in attendance was 109 year old, Ms. Fannie Mae Ausby. She and Dr. Zebooker (the oldest man) posed for photos and were treated to the first two slices of a “100” shaped birthday cake. The seniors and their guests enjoyed a party focused on reflection and remembrance, and Mayor Kenney made his way around to all 549 centenarians to take photos.
