If you chose to split your 2026 Commercial Trash Fee bill into two installments and have already paid the first $250 in December 2025, the second $250 payment is due by June 30, 2026. Late payments will incur additional charges, and unpaid bills may be referred to collections.
The easiest way to pay is online
You can easily pay this bill through the Philadelphia Tax Center. You do not need a username and password. Here’s how:
- Go to tax-services.phila.gov.
- Select “Make an electronic payment” from the “Payments” panel.
- Choose “No” under “Payment options,” when asked about receiving a bill.
- Select “Commercial Trash Fees” from the dropdown menu and follow the prompts.
If you own or manage multiple properties, creating a username and password can make it easier to manage your accounts. From a single dashboard, you can view balances, check payment status, and switch between property accounts without signing in and out.
Keep an eye on your mailbox
We recently mailed trash collection bills to nearly 26,000 Philadelphia property owners who use the City’s trash and recycling services.
In 2026, the annual Commercial Trash Fee is $500 and covers weekly trash pick-up by the City for the year. Property owners who chose the installment plan and paid the first $250 in December must pay the remaining $250 by June 30.
Didn’t get your bill?
It’s possible your bill is delayed or even missing. But you are still responsible for paying it. We make it easy to pay, even if you don’t have the bill. Use the “Property” panel on the Philadelphia Tax Center’s homepage to find your property and follow the prompts. You can also contact us to request a new bill but online is always quickest and easiest.
Other ways to pay
In person
You can pay at any of the Department of Revenue’s three municipal service centers, including the North Philadelphia Municipal Services Center at 2761 N. 22nd St. All three locations accept credit cards, checks, and money orders. For convenience, each service center also has a drop box.
Please note: The Municipal Services Building in Center City is the only location that accepts cash payments.
By mail
Make checks or money orders payable to the City of Philadelphia. Be sure to include your payment voucher and write your OPA number on your check or money order. Mail payments to:
Philadelphia Department of Revenue
P.O. Box 966
Philadelphia, PA 19102-0966
You can print a payment voucher online without creating a username and password. From the Philadelphia Tax Center homepage, choose “Make a payment by mail – print a voucher” from the “Payments” panel and follow the prompts.
You may qualify for an exemption
Some property owners do not have to pay the Commercial Trash Fee. Apply for an exemption if:
- You use a private trash collection service
- Your property is a vacant lot with a valid license
- Your property is an owner-occupied duplex
- Your property is a certified house of worship
You can apply for an exemption through the Philadelphia Tax Center. You may need supporting documents, including a trash service agreement from a private hauler or a current vacant property license issued by the Department of Licenses & Inspections.
Owner-occupied residential duplexes and certified houses of worship are automatically exempt, but give us a call if something is wrong with your exemption.
Remember: You must submit exemption forms every year to continue receiving this benefit. Otherwise, you are responsible for paying the fee.
