PHILADELPHIA – Mayor Jim Kenney issued the following statement today in response to Governor Tom Wolf’s proposed budget.

“This budget proposed by Governor Wolf takes on some of the biggest challenges facing our Commonwealth. Once again, the Governor has demonstrated his strong commitment to our students. For the fifth consecutive year, he is proposing increased investments in both early childhood and K-12 education, and we know even more will be needed to have a fair and equitable funding system across the Commonwealth. We share his priorities of increased workforce development funding, and calling for a statewide increase in the minimum wage. Governor Wolf is also proposing significant resources to help address the opioid crisis that is devastating communities here in Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania. We stand behind him as he continues to invest in the priorities that will move Pennsylvania forward.”
