TIME: 6:30-9:30PM

Commission Members and staff will explain the Commission's role, and how Philadelphia Police Department can provide better services to the Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind Community.

ASL interpreters and CART will be provided.

Commission Joins Open Data Initiative

Today the Commission answered the challenge of Mayor Nutter's Open Data Initiative (Executive Order 1-12) by taking the first steps in providing additional transparency around the police complaints process. Four years of our complaint data is posted at OpenDataPhilly, and will be updated monthly. We encourage the public, academics, other government agencies and data developers to download, map and correlate this data with other information to shed light on the variety of factors leading to complaints against police.

We recommend that the Commissioner and the department along with health care professionals, veterans group and the FOP promptly work to establish a defined protocol and support system to provide for early identification, intervention, treatment and counseling of officers at risk.
