Parenting Collaborative
The Parenting Collaborative consists of community-based parenting programs conducted by 68 agencies throughout the city.

In general, the Parenting Collaborative, which consists of a wide range of programs conducted by 68 community based agencies, offers parenting education, while the Parent Action Network consists of targeted and general support groups. However, both programs share similar philosophies and goals.


The primary goal of parenting education is to prevent child abuse/neglect and interpersonal violence. Other goals include:

    • Promoting the child’s development
    • Improving child/parent attachment
    • Improving child/parent communication skills
    • Increasing self-esteem of participants
    • Improving child/parent social control
Reducing aggressive behaviors by children and their caregivers.
