Corporate and Tax Group

Tax Unit

The Tax Unit represents the City as plaintiff, seeking to collect taxes and certain other amounts owed to the City, and also represents the City as defendant in cases where taxpayers dispute their liabilities.

Property Assessment Unit

The Property Assessment Unit is responsible for assessing all real property throughout the City to serve as the basis for the calculation of real estate taxes.

Regulatory Affairs Unit

The Regulatory Affairs Unit counsels and represents numerous City officials in a wide variety of federal, state, and local regulatory matters. The Unit also counsels and advises the City concerning SEPTA and the Philadelphia Gas Works.

Economic Development and Investments Unit

The Economic Development and Investments Unit handles the Real Estate transactional practice and the Pensions and Investments practice, along with a variety of economic development initiatives.

Commercial Law Unit

The Commercial Law Unit is responsible for the City’s commercial contracts and technology law practice, as well as providing legal counsel on municipal finance matters.
