PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Department of Public Health today reported an additional 9,778 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Philadelphia since last reported on Monday, August 9. This brings the total number of fully vaccinated Philadelphians to at least 787,663, and the number of Philadelphians with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine to at least 961,189 . Currently, 63.4 percent of Philadelphia adults are fully vaccinated, and 77.4 percent of Philadelphia adults have received at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine.

The Department of Public Health reports 145 patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated in Philadelphia hospitals, with a total of 14 on ventilators.

In the last two weeks, five percent of COVID-19 tests in Philadelphia have come back positive. Thus far during the pandemic, 149,134 Philadelphians have been diagnosed with COVID-19, and 3,783  have succumbed to the virus. Philadelphia is averaging 180 new cases of COVID-19 per day over the last two weeks.

Health Department Providing Weekly Briefings: The Department of Public Health is now holding weekly virtual press briefings to provide an update on COVID-19 and the City’s response. The next weekly briefing will be on Wednesday, August 18, at 10:00 a.m. The Health Department will issue a press advisory with a Zoom link for reporters.
