PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Department of Public Health today announced 495 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Philadelphia. That brings the number of confirmed cases to 141,158. In addition, the Department of Public Health also announced 21 new probable cases from rapid antigen tests. Today’s case count represents totals for three days, since new cases were last reported on Friday, May 7.
The Department of Public Health confirmed 28 additional fatalities in Philadelphia. This brings the number of residents who have succumbed to the virus in Philadelphia to 3,529. Of the 3,529 total deaths, 1,196 (34%) were long-term care facility residents.
The Department of Public Health reports 339 patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated in Philadelphia hospitals, with a total of 54 on ventilators.
Flyers and Penn Medicine to Vaccinate Fans at Tonight’s Game: Tonight, the Flyers and Penn Medicine are teaming up to offer the Johnson & Johnson, one-dose vaccine and provide information about COVID-19 and the vaccines to Flyers fans attending tonight’s regular season finale against the New Jersey Devils. Health care providers from Penn Medicine will be on hand on the main concourse, outside Section 104. Any fan who gets a vaccine will receive a voucher for two free tickets to a select Flyers game next season.
Health Department Micro-Site RFP Still Accepting Applications: The Philadelphia Department of Public Health (PDPH) is seeking to expand the availability of COVID-19 testing and vaccination by establishing easily accessible “micro-sites” in geographic areas and communities with low vaccination and testing rates.
PDPH is partnering with the Urban Affairs Coalition, a local nonprofit organization, to solicit proposals from qualified agencies and organizations to implement a new COVID-19 Micro-Site Program. PDPH will be reviewing the proposals and is solely responsible for selecting qualified organizations to implement the Program.
