Office of Black Male Engagement stands against racism that continues to threaten Black lives in the United States: We Matter!

COVID-19 has transformed all of our lives forcing us to reevaluate what really matters and with the recent losses of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd America’s original sin of racism continues to threaten Black lives.

Our lives matter. Black man. Black boy. We are amazing. Infinitely creative. Incredibly intelligent. Relentlessly strong.

Cities all over the nation are protesting these senseless acts of violence because we matter. Because we deserve the freedom to live and thrive in a country that honors and values our worth. Because we deserve to be respected by law enforcement and civil service leaders who have vowed to uphold our rights to liberty and justice.

In the midst of such chaos and confusion, one thing should always be clear. Black lives matter. We have been, we are, and we will continue to be the very reason this country moves forward.

Black man, Black boy we stand with you. We will not tolerate the devaluing of Black life any longer. As we protest and lift our voices against the silence and slow movement of leadership please be safe. Keep your masks on and distance as much as possible.

We are outraged by the sickness of hatred that still plagues our country but we will not allow the value of Black life to diminish with these difficult times. We stand together with you to make sure the voices and issues concerning Black men and boys are amplified and opportunities and resources are provided. We matter!

God bless and please stay safe.
