JOBS ProjectIn 2003 the Philadelphia Prison System established the JOBS Project. The JOBS Project program offers therapeutic living environments in the Philadelphia Prison System as well as vocational training, job readiness life skills, discharge planning for inmates and transitional services for ex-offenders.In the therapeutic living environments, inmates learn to live together in a non-hostile community atmosphere. The life skills workshops are offered by the staff, which includes anger management, victim awareness and drug and alcohol education.The JOBS Project also offers case management services for inmates and job placement through our reentry partners. Some of the agencies that partner with the Philadelphia Prisons offer many different services.The Pennsylvania Prison Society and Impact Services provides workshops, job placement and case for inmates and ex-offenders.The Pennsylvania Horticulture Society partners with the Prisons for the City Harvest Program. The purpose is to provide community gardens with seedlings for their garden beds. The partnership also supply's fresh produce to some of the community cupboard programs that are grown at PPS.Diversity Apprentice Program – Prepares inmates and ex-offenders for union apprentice programs.Centro Petro Claver – Offers workshops, job placement and case management for Spanish speaking inmates and ex-offenders.The Entrepreneurial Training Programs from Philadelphia Alive Transformational Center provide workshops provide case management and job placement to help inmates and ex-offenders start a small business.The Mount Airy Community Computer Center – Provides a free computer, delivered and installed in your home, and instruction for ex-offenders and their school age children.Men’s Health Heath Issues Class – Provides men with instruction on health related concerns (administered by the Department of Health).Fatherhood Initiative Class – Offers parenting programs (administered out of the Mayor’s Office of Re-entry services). |
