Family and Friends FAQ

When may I visit an inmate?

Inmates may receive one hour of visits per week. One-half hour must be on the inmate’s letter-designated visiting day; the other visit may take place on any other visiting day.
The only Holiday visits that are allowed are: Thanksgiving, Christmas
and New Years.

Important things to know when visiting Prisons:

Visitors must present valid photo identification, such as a passport, driver's or non-driver's license, or foreign consular identification card. Minors may visit only when accompanied by a parent or guardian, and some proof of relationship, such as birth certificate, must be presented. No more than two adults and two children may visit at one time. All visitors will be searched prior to entering the visiting area.
Visitors may not wear transparent or revealing clothing. Hooded clothing, halter-tops, tank tops, crop tops, white tee shirts, miniskirts, hot pants, and shorts are not permitted. Tops exceeding hip length must be worn with spandex tights or stretch pants. Bermuda shorts are permitted.

Call (215) 685-8394, (215) 685-8395, (215) 685-8396, (215) 685-7957, or (215) 685-7958. Spanish-speaking persons may call (215) 685-8692. The office is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. To avoid peak calling hours on weekdays, call before 9 a.m. or after 7 p.m. An inmate's Photo ID number never changes. The same PID number is retained throughout an individual's entire criminal career.

What items may I bring to the inmate I am visiting?
CIVILIAN CLOTHING EXCHANGES FOR COURT, MAY BE MADE ONLY ON THE INMATE'S LETTER-DESIGNATED VISITING DAY.

Approved Items - Item Limit
Prescription eyeglasses, dentures, prosthesis after approval by the health-care provider
Shoes and sneakers will NOT be accepted.
Books, magazines, or periodicals will be accepted ONLY WHEN SENT DIRECTLY BY THE PUBLISHER OR COMMERCIAL DISTRIBUTOR.
All other clothing can be purchased through the Keefe links on the home page.
 
How may I make a deposit to an inmate's account?

Deposits can be made via the internet; Keefe -Access: www.accesscorrections.com

Also a visitor may make a deposit only to the account of the inmate being visited. Cash can be placed in the KIOSK during the hours of 7:00am to 9:00pm. Money orders may be left at anytime in the drop box located in the lobby area see the officer.

In addition, deposits may be made to inmate accounts via money order or certified check sent through the U. S. Mail. Personal, welfare, and supplemental income checks are not accepted. DO NOT MAIL CASH. Be sure to include the inmate's name and prisoner identification number (police photo number) and the sender's return address.
 

When Discharged

After being discharged, personal items can be picked up from the facility in which a person was housed. Please contact that facility prior to coming to the Philadelphia Prison System grounds.

How can I obtain bail information and where can I pay bail?

BAIL information
Bail can be paid Mon thru Friday Between the hours of 7 AM to 11 Pm last bail payment must be in by 10:00 PM. Location: Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility visitor’s lobby,
7901 State Road Philadelphia PA 19136. Bail payments only, no fine and cost, no bail refund.

Also bail information may be obtained 7 days/24 hours by calling (215) 685-8394, 685-8395, 685-8396, 685-7957, or 685-7958. Spanish-speaking persons may call (215) 685-8692. To avoid peak calling hours on weekdays, call before 9 a.m. or after 7 p.m.

 

General Cases
Criminal Justice Center, 1301 Filbert Street, basement Level, Philadelphia, PA, - (215) 683-7726 or 7727.
Bail payments are accepted 7 days/24 hours. Cash is accepted anytime. Cashiers and treasury checks payable to the Clerk of Quarter Sessions are accepted only from 8:30 a.m. through 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. through 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Family/Domestic Relations Sentences (including child support)
Family Court Customer Service Center, 34 South 11th Street, Philadelphia, PA - (215) 686-4007. Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
The Customer Service Center is open on Wednesdays until 8 p.m. for phone inquiries only. Call 686-7466, 24 hours per day, seven days per week, for further information concerning bail and child support payments. Bail may be paid by cash, certified check, or money order.
Traffic Court Sentences
Traffic Court, 800 Spring Garden Street, Philadelphia, PA -
(215) 686-1674 or 1675. Hours of Operation: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Wednesday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:45 p.m.
Bail may be paid by cash, money order, certified check, Visa, MasterCard, or Discover. Personal checks are NOT accepted. After hours, bail may be paid at the Criminal Justice Center.
 
How can I obtain information concerning court dates?

For information concerning probation violation hearings, contact the Probation Department at (215) 683-7530, or call the defendant's assigned probation officer. Have the inmate's Photo ID (PID) number available.
