Social Workers Trainee & II
For the position of Social Worker Trainee you must meet these general requirements:
1. Education:
Completion of a bachelor's degree program with major course work in social work, social services or a related field at an accredited college or university.
2. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR THE BILINGUAL SPECIALTY
Sufficient training and/or experience to be able to converse
effectively in English and the designated non-English language.
3. PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to physically perform the duties and to work in the
environmental conditions required of a position in this class.
4. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATES
Possession of a valid proper class motor vehicle
operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth
of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of employment
as a Social Worker Trainee, if required by work assignment.
For the position of Social Worker II you must
meet these general requirements:
1. EDUCATION
Completion of a bachelor’s degree program
At any accredited college or university.
2. EXPERIENCE
Two years of social work experience.
One year of experience above the trainee level in the
area of specialization or an equivalent combination of
education determined by the Personnel Department.

Social Worker Trainee:
Salary: Starting - $30,560 (career advancement to SW
II
after 1 year with satisfactory performance)
Social Worker II:
Salary: Starting - $38,595 Maximum - $49,623
Longevity Bonus:
5 years - $625.00
10 years - $825.00
15 years - $1025.00
20 years - $1225.00
Paid Leave
Annual Vacation Leave:
1 – 5 years 10 days
6 – 10 years 15 days
11 – 20 years 20 days
20 + years 25 days
(Maximum Accumulation-70 days)
Administrative/Personal Leave:
4 days per year
Sick Leave:
15 days per year (Maximum Accumulation-200 days)
Funeral Leave:
