Rodney Brockenbrough

Deputy Commissioner of Operations

 

After graduating with honors from Overbrook High School, Rodney Brockenbrough briefly attended the prestigious United States Coast Guard Academy.  In April 2004 he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University.  He is a lifetime member of the Sigma Delta Chapter of the National Honor Society, and holds professional memberships with the American Correctional Association, American Jail Association, and the Pennsylvania Prison Wardens Association.
 
Rodney Brockenbrough began his career with the Philadelphia Prisons System in May 1984 at the House of Correction he also worked at the Detention Center, Philadelphia Industrial Correctional Center, Alternative and Special Detention, CMR, and the now defunct Holmesburg Prison.  He served as Warden from December 2003 until his assuming his current position as Deputy Commissioner for Operations in May 2006.
 
Deputy Commissioner Brockenbrough was trained in hostage negotiations, and later as the System's first Correctional Emergency Response Team Commander.  In 1996 he was honored as an Employee of the Year, and in 2005 as Administrator of the Year.  The Deputy Commissioner is also active in his community, and he has a passion for working with at-risk youth in the community and participating in Church activities.
