Remapping South Street, from 11th to Front streets
Remapping South Street, from 11th to Front streets
The Philadelphia City Planning Commission is working with residents and businesses along South Street to update zoning regulations on this important corridor. The focus area is South Street, between 11th and Front streets. This process will change the regulations of some uses, sizes, and shapes of what can be built in the area. It will not regulate construction techniques, rental vs owner-occupied housing types, property management, trash, morals, crime, behavior, or customer base.
The working group for this effort includes the Philadelphia City Planning Commission, Councilmember Mark Squilla, Bella Vista Neighbors Association, Society Hill Civic Association, South Street Headhouse District, Queen Village Neighbors Association and Washington Square West Civic Association. Staff from the Philadelphia City Planning Commission also canvassed South Street businesses.
In the coming month, the Philadelphia City Planning Commission will host meetings to review the proposed changes to zoning maps for South Street, between 11th and Front streets. There will be a virtual option for this review. Meeting attendees can ask questions and provide feedback about the proposals. Meeting attendees will be asked to vote for their preferred map changes.
