What we do
The Office of Public Engagement (OPE) improves the City’s community outreach and engagement efforts. We work to make City government accessible to all Philadelphians and to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard.
Our office oversees:
- Mayor’s Office of Black Male Engagement
- Mayor’s Office of Civic Engagement and Volunteer Service
- Mayor’s Office of Engagement for Women
- Mayor’s Office of Youth Engagement
- Faith-Based and Interfaith Affairs
OPE also collaborates with the following commissions within the Office of Immigrant Affairs:
Ajeenah Amir is the Director for the Mayor’s Office of Public Engagement. Amir is a Philadelphia native, with over 10 years’ experience in communications, community outreach, advocacy, and events management. She previously served as Deputy Communications Director for the city, managing and advising the communications activities for a broad portfolio of departments, including Planning and Development, the Office of Immigrant Affairs, and the Mayor’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion since 2016. Prior to joining the Kenney Administration, Amir worked as Deputy Press Secretary for PA Governor Tom Wolf, and as Associate State Director for Communications with AARP Pennsylvania.
