Each December, dozens of Philadelphia’s parks host light displays, holiday celebrations, and gift giveaways. This year, Parks & Rec is asking residents to donate to help make McPherson Square’s Holiday Celebration extra special.

Parks & Rec is collecting new toys and winter accessories (like hats, gloves, and scarves) for the young people and families who live near McPherson Square. 

We are collecting:

  • NEW toys (all ages!)
  • NEW warm weather accessories in all youth and adult sizes, including
    • Gloves
    • Hats
    • Scarves
    • Socks

 

Donations can be dropped off at one of these locations:

  • City Hall,  1 South Penn Square 
  • One Parkway Building, 1515 Arch Street
  • Municipal Services Building, 1401 John F Kennedy Boulevard 

Drop-off times are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

All donated items will be distributed to Kensington families at the McPherson Square Holiday Celebration on Saturday, December 17. 

 

The McPherson Square holiday celebration and toy drive are a partnership among Parks & Rec, the Free Library of Philadelphia, the Managing Director’s Office, and local community groups committed to activating public spaces in Kensington for residents to enjoy.
