PHILADELPHIA – Today Mayor Jim Kenney asked the Educational Nominating Panel to provide nominations to fill two vacant seats on the Philadelphia Board of Education. This request follows the recent announcement that Dr. Maria McColgan will resign from the Board effective May 6, 2022. The Educational Nominating Panel convened earlier this month to begin the process of filling an earlier vacancy.

apply for the Board seat, the Educational Nominating Panel has extended the application deadline to Friday, April 29.

“Serving on the Board of Education is an incredible opportunity to serve children and families in Philadelphia,” said Mayor Kenney. “We are looking for dedicated, effective leaders to be champions for our city’s schools and student success. I thank our past and present Board members for their service, and look forward to receiving the Educational Nominating Panel’s recommendations next month so that I can appoint two new Board members.”

Philadelphians interested in serving on the Board of Education can submit their applications to the Educational Nominating Panel online, or on a paper form which is available for pick-up and drop-off at City Hall’s northeast entrance.
