Nearly 95 Percent of Philadelphia Adults Have Received at Least One Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine: The City’s COVID-19 vaccine dashboard is being updated today to show that nearly 95 percent of Philadelphia adults have received at least one dose of COVID vaccine.
“Seeing that nearly 95 percent of adults in Philadelphia have received a dose of COVID-19 vaccine is extremely exciting. The vast majority of our loved ones and neighbors know that vaccines are the best way to avoid severe COVID-19 and to protect each other. But we still have work to do: we need to get many more young adults and children vaccinated so they can be protected. And there is emerging evidence that being fully vaccinated and boosted can protect you from the Omicron variant,” said Health Commissioner Dr. Cheryl Bettigole. “I’m looking forward to the day when we can celebrate 95 percent of children being vaccinated, and 95 percent of adults having received their booster dose. There are more than 300 places throughout the city where folks can get their free first, second, and booster doses; check phila.gov/vaccine or vaccines.gov for the nearest location.”
Health Department Adds Old Positive Tests to Overall COVID-19 Count: As part of ongoing review of positive tests and confirmatory tests received by the Health Department, the COVID-19 testing dashboard will be updated today with an additional 872 cases. Twenty-two of these cases were from 2020, and 850 were from earlier in 2021. This change is not related to the current rise in new cases, instead it is a result of ongoing maintenance of the overall COVID-19 databases.
Approved Weekend Street Closures for Outdoor Dining (December 10-12): In June 2020, the City launched four options for restaurants to operate outdoor dining in order to earn much needed revenue.
