Philadelphia – The City of Philadelphia’s Office of Children and Families and Parks & Recreation, together with the School District of Philadelphia and Nutritional Development Services and community partners are supporting over 500 child and youth meal sites this summer. This citywide and community based effort will ensure that all children and youth have access to free, healthy meals this summer. A full list and finder of student meals for summer is at phila.gov/food.

Residents should know:

  • The School District of Philadelphia will continue Friday-only distributions at student meal sites, between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every week at over 100 locations.
  • Many Parks & Recreation’s PlayStreets and Nutritional Development Services open meal sites began student summer meal distributions on June 14.
  • New sites are still being added as they are confirmed.
  • All children and youth in Philadelphia are eligible. No student ID is required.
  • Meal distribution days and times vary by site. Families should call ahead or visit to confirm schedules.

An up-to-date list of sites and schedules for all food sites and student meal sites is available on the City’s website. The public is encouraged to confirm locations and schedules by calling 311 or visiting phila.gov/food before going to a site.

School District of Philadelphia Superintendent, William R. Hite, Jr., Ed.D. shares, “Our Food Services team stepped up and diligently worked to support our students and families throughout the pandemic. I’m pleased to know that our team can continue to work with the City of Philadelphia to ensure that our students and families will have access to meals during the summer.”

Executive Director of Nutritional Development Services (NDS), Liz Hagedorn shares, “NDS joins other sponsors to provide healthy meals to children at many locations throughout the city of Philadelphia. After a difficult school year, we are happy to provide nourishment to children enjoying their summer and all it has to offer.”
