The 2020-2021 service year is coming to an end for the Serve Philadelphia VISTA Corps. This year’s cohort is the largest yet with 52 VISTAs serving across 32 City departments. Personally, for me, I started my service year as a VISTA Leader with a lot of uncertainty. What could service possibly look like during a pandemic that feels like it’s never-ending?

It has been a difficult year. But, from the first check-in meeting to the last, I see how much everyone has grown both professionally and personally. I am incredibly proud of every VISTA for their patience, innovative mindset, and ability to collaborate. Thank you to our members for your hard work and dedication to the Philadelphia community.

Every Tuesday and Thursday from June 29 to July 13, the Serve Philadelphia VISTA Corps will be hosting Lightning Talks. Lightning Talks are brief presentations by VISTAs that will give an overview of their projects, challenges they overcame, and the accomplishments they achieved.

Presentations are based on focus areas:

  • Tuesday, June 29: Economic Opportunity
  • Thursday, July 1: Economic Opportunity & Education
  • Tuesday, July 6: Housing and Homelessness
  • Thursday, July 8: Housing and Homelessness
  • Tuesday, July 13: Healthy Futures

RSVP here to celebrate the end of the year with our VISTAs and see what a service year is all about!
