Philadelphia schools have closed for the year, and many families across the city are spending a lot of extra time at home with their children. Looking for activities to engage their – and your – bodies and minds?  Philadelphia’s Get Healthy Philly program has compiled the resources below to help brighten the days:

 Physical activity and movement ideas 

  • Choose an activity (or several!) from the Head Start Physical Activity Calendar  we recommend trying out a scavenger hunt in the house. 
  • Have a dance party – turn on GoNoodle or just some music and show off your dance moves with your children.    
  • Play a movement game like “musical statues” from We Have The Moves (Healthy Kids Healthy Futures).  
  • Take some time out for mindfulness and relaxation with Cosmic Kids Yoga.

  • Philadelphia residents can have COVID-19 updates sent directly to their phones. Text COVIDPHL to 888-777 to receive free alerts with news and updates from the City. Updates are also posted on the Health Department’s website.
  • City officials provide COVID-19 updates Monday through Friday at 1:00 p.m. Updates are live-streamed via the Health Department’s Twitter account @PHLPublicHealth.  
  • Philadelphia residents can also call the Greater Philadelphia Coronavirus Helpline at 1-800-722-7112. Trained healthcare providers are available 24/7 to answer your questions.
