The Homestead Exemption and the Senior Citizen Real Estate Tax Freeze are two programs offering Real Estate Tax savings to Philadelphia homeowners.

Some City-run assistance programs have open enrollment. But September 13 is the application deadline for both Homestead and Senior Tax Freeze. The date is approaching, and we’re urging homeowners to apply fast.

Any person who owns and lives in their home in Philadelphia is eligible for Homestead. The typical homeowner will save $559 dollars on their 2019 Real Estate Tax bill. Unlike other programs, Homestead doesn’t have age or income requirements.

Senior Tax Freeze locks in Real Estate Tax bills based on current property values and tax rates. The program works by “freezing” your tax bill—making sure it does not increase in the future. Many Philadelphia properties increased in value this year. So, it’s a critical time to get into the program. This program has income requirements, and you can read more about them on our website.

Once again, apply for the for Homestead and Senior Tax Freeze before September 13 to get tax relief in 2019.
