DUTIES:

This is forensic field investigation work at the advanced level in the Police Department's Crime Scene Unit, locating, gathering, documenting, transporting, preserving and analyzing physical evidence obtained from crime scenes.

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Presently employed by the City of Philadelphia, in the Police Department, with permanent Civil Service status in the class of Crime Scene Investigator 1 with a Performance Rating of Satisfactory or higher;
  2. and

  3. Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade;
  4. and

  5. Three years of experience in fingerprint identification or technical photographic work in support of law enforcement activities, one of which has been at the full performance level;
  6. and

  7. Two years of experience performing forensic field investigation work at the Crime Scene Investigator 1 level;
  8. or

  9. Any equivalent combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Personnel Department, which has included the Specific Experience.

EXAMINATION:

Will be related to the duties of the position and will consist of the following:

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND/OR CERTIFICATES

Possession of a valid proper class motor vehicle operator's license as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to appointment and during tenure of employment as a Crime Scene Investigator required by work assignment.

ELIGIBLE LISTS:

Only a departmental promotional eligible list for the Police Department will be established as a result of this examination.
